Morrison Construction receives three national health and safety awards for sixth consecutive year

7 Jul 11 Morrison Construction, part of the Galliford Try group, received three coveted Occupational Health and Safety Gold Medals for the sixth year in a row from Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for its excellence in work-related health and safety performance.

Morrison Construction鈥檚 North East Scotland, Highland and Central Scotland business units each earned the top accolade, to be presented at RoSPA鈥檚 2011 Award Ceremony on 22 September, at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel.

The Gold Medal is awarded to companies which demonstrate a sustained focus on the safety and well-being of their workforce and have achieved a minimum of five consecutive Gold Awards.

鈥淭he safety of our employees is our highest priority,鈥 said Mike Keith, Managing Director of Morrison Construction鈥檚 building business in Scotland.聽 鈥淚鈥檓 extremely proud of the Morrison Construction team鈥檚 continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety.鈥

David Rawlins, RoSPA鈥檚 awards manager, said: 鈥淩oSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition.聽 Morrison Construction has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.鈥

RoSPA is a safety charity and launched its awards programme 55 years ago.聽 The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants鈥 overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement

Morrison Construction operates from five regional offices (Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Grangemouth and Edinburgh) and employs more than 650 staff in Scotland.
