Beacon Park is part of the Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft Enterprise Zone, which focuses on attracting and supporting energy-related businesses within the East of England. The warehouse that Morgan Sindall is building will be occupied by engineering contractor Proserv.
It will provide Proserv with office space and storage facilities as well as laboratories, engraving areas, test rooms, clean rooms and welding and soldering areas. There will also be a large external yard for deliveries and a car park for 164 vehicles.
Saul Humphrey, managing director of Morgan Sindall鈥檚 East Anglia business, said: 鈥淥nce complete, the building will provide Proserv with the office, storage space, and specialist facilities they need, helping to deliver real efficiencies for its business.
鈥淭he 6,050 m2 warehouse is one of the largest steel frame buildings being built in Norfolk at the moment and we鈥檙e working closely with the council to deliver this important and ambitious scheme.鈥�
The borough council has invested 拢4.5m in the development, with an additional 拢1.5m coming from New Anglia LEP鈥檚 Growing Places Fund. Proserv is contributing up to 拢2 million towards the fit-out for their requirements and will be taking a 20-year lease on completion, bringing the 190 staff that are currently based at three sites across Great Yarmouth under one roof.
Proserv chief executive David Lamont said: 鈥淐onsolidating operations into a modern purpose-built site will make us leaner, more efficient and better placed to deliver for our global customer base, whilst creating capacity for future expansion. The centre will serve as a global hub and Centre of Excellence for our subsea communication and controls activities and ensures we remain at the forefront of our field.鈥�
