Most of Berry Piling鈥檚 work takes place in London and the new machines will be used for basement works, piling for tower crane bases, fa莽ade retention and other restricted-access applications.
Berry has taken delivery of two Klemm KR702-2 machines to replace its existing KR701-1 rigs. The newer model is nearly 50% more powerful and operates at greater speeds.
It has also added a Klemm KR708-2 rig, for sites where its larger KR709-1 rigs cannot be used.
Berry now has six Klemm rigs in total, bought from drilling equipment supplier Skelair International.
As well as purchasing the new rigs, Berry Piling is modifying its existing fleet by retrofitting service winches and further developed safety cages, which will enhance its health and safety standards and efficiency drives.
Group managing director Chris Berry said: 鈥淥ver the last two years, the market has started to pick up at an extremely healthy pace and we believe there is even greater confidence in the pipeline. It was therefore a good time for us to upgrade our fleet with more efficient machines so that we can keep up with growing demand and our ever increasing popularity.鈥
He continued: 鈥淲e have been using Klemms since 1992 鈥 they are extremely powerful and reliable compact drill rigs. On top of this, the service we鈥檝e received from Skelair over the years has been fantastic and their backup is second to none.鈥
Skelair managing director John Mayo said: 鈥淭he Klemm range offers a flexible choice to accommodate the full range of drilling requirements and access restrictions, meaning the machines are a clear choice for many contractors looking to boost efficiencies. Retrofitting machines with service winches is also an excellent way of further increasing efficiencies and improving health and safety before completely upgrading machines.鈥
