More funds for plant operator training

10 Jul 12 Plant operators’ employers are in line to recover £610 on successful completion of each plant-related vocational qualification (VQ) that they take as part of their ‘blue card’ accreditation under the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS).

The new arrangements were agreed by the CITB-ConstructionSkills training committee following a bid from the CPCS management committee. An additional 拢2.1m is being allocated for plant related VQs over the previous year from the CITB-ConstructionSkills grants scheme.

CPCS management committee chairman Trevor Gamble said: 鈥淭his is great news. The success of our bid to the training committee will enable us to target significantly more funds on VQ achievement than we have in the past.聽And this at a time when government funding for VQs has been significantly reduced.

鈥淭he focus on VQ achievement will reinforce the reputation of the Plant Competence Scheme and the CPCS.鈥

聽The Grants Scheme funding will be made available on a 鈥榝irst come, first served鈥 basis so individuals and employers wanting to take advantage of the scheme should get their grant claims in early. Details of how of the scheme and the application process work can be found at http://www.cskills.org/levy-grant/grant/index.aspx.
