The course is a nationally accredited learning and development programme on environmental awareness and is designed for site managers.
It is accredited by Site Safety Plus and has had funding and support from the Construction Industry Training Boards (CITB).
The SEATS+ programme builds on the one-day SEATS course for site supervisors and managers launched in February 2013. Since then more than 6,500 people have completed the SEATS programme.
UKCG members want to ensure that those working on site have a relevant knowledge of environmental issues and regulations, and can promote best practice in areas such as site sustainability, waste management and resource efficiency.聽
Rob Lambe, chair of the UKCG environment group and managing director Willmott Dixon Energy Services, said the course would 鈥減rovide additional knowledge for site managers, and in a flexible online learning environment which minimises time away from site鈥.
CITB policy & strategic planning director Steve Radley added: 鈥淪EATS+ is the next step in the environmental awareness revolution. This new e-learning scheme goes beyond the classroom, and will help bring best practice across the sector.鈥
UKCG members have also agreed an environmental training standard. []
Skanska president and CEO Mike Putnam, a co-chair of the Green Construction Board, said: 鈥淪EATS+ and the UKCG Environmental Training Standard are good examples of collaboration across the construction industry. They will lead to improved environmental awareness and performance and help deliver the aspirations set out in the UK government鈥檚 Construction 2025 industrial strategy鈥.
