It was appointed sole consultant by the airport鈥檚 public concessionaire, which is expanding the facility to meet the expected growth in passenger numbers.
In 2013 the airport handled over 5 million passengers and expansion is necessary to accommodate an expected increase in international flights. Mott MacDonald鈥檚 role was to deliver a conceptual plan for developing the passenger terminal. This included all planning for structural, electrical and mechanical engineering elements and necessary airport systems. 聽
Jason Wong, Mott MacDonald鈥檚 project director said: 鈥淭he expansion project also provides a real opportunity to create a multimodal transport hub by connecting to the Macau light rail transit, providing passengers with more transport links to the airport.鈥�
