LinkedIn to build new Irish HQ

10 Oct 14 Networking website LinkedIn is to build new international headquarters on a 17,507m2 site in Dublin.

Construction work will begin in May 2015 with building works expected to be completed at the beginning of 2017.

The new site has capacity to see LinkedIn鈥檚 current Irish workforce grow to 1,200 people in the future. Since its arrival in Dublin in March 2010, LinkedIn has grown substantially from an initial three people, to more than 600 employees today. LinkedIn鈥檚 international headquarters in Dublin is now one of the leading employers in the Irish digital technology sector.聽

Ireland鈥檚 minister for jobs, enterprise and innovation Richard Bruton said: 鈥淚reland鈥檚 success in attracting and growing jobs in the world鈥檚 biggest 鈥榖orn on the internet鈥 companies is the envy of many countries. This investment brings huge knock-on benefits for Ireland 鈥 including extra jobs in supply and service companies, as well as a huge boost to our reputation.鈥

Sharon McCooey, senior director, LinkedIn Ireland, added: 鈥淲ith 1.2 million members, Ireland is now one of LinkedIn鈥檚 top markets when it comes to member penetration. For that reason we are extremely pleased to be announcing a further investment in Ireland and an expansion of our operational presence here. Dublin is now home to a very vibrant digital technology sector and with that comes an important ecosystem for companies like ours as well as the strong pool of talented digital professionals that we need access to in order to further grow our operations in the future.鈥
