Linden Homes gets go-ahead for Gloucester development

10 Apr 13 Linden Homes has struck a deal with the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) to allow work start on the former Gloscat college site in Gloucester city centre.

The new development will provide 176 apartments and 78 townhouses, including a mix of 32 affordable homes. The scheme will also include a doctor鈥檚 surgery, pharmacy, offices, restaurants, caf茅 bars and community space.

The 2.4 hectare site was formerly the Greyfriars campus of Gloucestershire College (Gloscat) before the college relocated to a new waterfront campus in Gloucester Quays in 2007. The 1960s Gloscat tower block was demolished in October 2011.

聽Greg Smith, chairman of Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e delighted to see the regeneration of Greyfriars commence as it is a key site in the URC鈥檚 鈥楳agnificent Seven鈥 regeneration programme. This event marks an important milestone in the regeneration of Gloucester which has already seen 拢600m invested since 2006. Like the college鈥檚 relocation to the Quays we see Linden鈥檚 investment as a catalyst in regenerating the surrounding area鈥.
