Usage of Constructionline - the UK鈥檚 largest register of pre-qualified contractors and consultants 鈥� has increased for the sixth consecutive quarter.
The service鈥檚 latest update revealed that 32,179 tender lists had been created or reviewed by buying organisations which use its database to pre-qualify suppliers between April and June this year.
This is an 89 per cent increase in the second quarter of 2010 compared to the same period last year.
Constructionline also confirmed that nearly two thousand new suppliers had registered on its system in the last 12 months.
The rate at which clients 鈥� such as local authorities, housing associations and major contractors 鈥� adopted the service has increased by over 10 per cent compared to the same quarter of last year.
Recent additions to Constructionline鈥檚 roster of buyers include Sheffield City Council 鈥� Street Force, Telereal Trillium and ROK.
Philip Prince, a director from Constructionline, said: 鈥淭he construction industry has grown by six per cent in the second quarter of this year and despite recent changes, the public sector still accounts for almost a third of construction spending with many reviewing frameworks and focusing on maintenance.
鈥淎round fifty per cent of public sector work is within repair and maintenance and this has remained an area of growth since the beginning of 2010.
鈥淭he fact that usage of our service is increasing is a great indicator that, despite times being tough for many businesses, valuable contracts are still being awarded.鈥澛�
