The package of machines includes six A30G articulated haulers, four L150H wheeled loaders and 12 crawler excavators, ranging from the 22-tonne EC220E up to the 50-tonne EC480E.聽
They will be deployed across KKB鈥檚 five main business areas and will operate nationwide.
鈥淏asically we have trust in the Volvo brand in terms of performance and reliability,鈥 said KKB plant manager Craig Hore. 鈥淭he machines are well built in our opinion, and offer a superb return on operating costs and, not least, high residual values when it鈥檚 time to replace them which for us is usually every three years.鈥
KKB operates in recycling, aggregate and asphalt production, land remediation and plant hire. 鈥淲e have continued to evolve the business and over the last few years have added the demolition and civil engineering sectors to our portfolio,鈥 said business development director Sally Pearson. 鈥淭hese new additions will therefore be deployed across the whole spectrum of our business and will give us the scope to handle large bulk muck-shifting projects, remediation projects, demolition contracts and, of course, recycling.鈥
The new Volvo machines have therefore been highly specified. The excavators have: heavy-duty belly plates under the superstructure; additional X3 grab-rotation circuits for handling hydraulic implements such as selector grabs, pulverisers and munchers; and plates welded to the underside of the dipper-arms to operate grapples. Other safety features include boxing ring-style guarding on the superstructures and all-round visibility aids. Similarly, the L150H wheeled loaders (pictured below) have been equipped with heavy duty L5 tyres, weigh loaders and sensor-vision reversing aids. This means that any machine can be deployed anywhere in the group.
