Kimberly acquires High Level Platforms

31 Jan 11 Harrogate-based access and telehandler hire company Kimberly has bought out High Level Platforms for an undisclosed cash consideration.

High Level will be run as an autonomous entity within the Kimberly group, retaining its own identity, management and staff.

Based in Poole, Dorset, High Level was previously owned by husband and wife team Phil and Julie Ainsworth, who have retired to pursue personal interests.

David Solomon, previously general manager, is now managing director of High Level, reporting to Kimberly chairman Ray Ledger.

High Level has depots at Wareham and Southampton, as well as Poole.

Kimberly has five operational depots in Wigan, Manchester, Doncaster, Stoke, Ivor (Buckinghamshire), and east London. It has a fleet of 1,500 machines, mostly boom lifts, scissors and telehandlers.

Mr Ledger, a former executive director of Hewden Stuart, said that the acquisition of High Level 鈥渢otally reflects our strategy and follows the acquisition of 1蝉迟听Access Rentals and Pinnacle Platforms in Scotland last May, both of which have been seamlessly integrated and are performing well above expectations.鈥

He added: 鈥淭his deal ticks all the boxes, being well managed, profitable, financially stable and operating a good quality fleet of equipment with an average age of less than three years. High Level will be encouraged to develop further in to a very major regional business covering the south coast from Brighton to Plymouth thus linking with the Kimberly Access depots in West and East London.鈥
