Kier first publicly declared its interest in acquiring Mouchel three months ago when it announced that it was in preliminary discussions. (.)
In an update today, Kier said that it was still in discussions regarding a potential acquisition of Mouchel but there was still no certainty of a deal being reached.
Mouchel saw its share price collapse from 470p in May 2008 to 3p by June 2012, during which time is spurned take-over bids from both Costain and Interserve. In 2012 Mouchel fell into administration and was taken over by its lending banks – RBS, Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays – in a pre-pack deal.
