The project involves building 27 new affordable homes for local people.
Local dignitaries including the mayor turned out for a turf cutting ceremony last week to mark the start of work.

Coastline Housing project manager Alison Johns said: 鈥淲e are very pleased to be working with Kier Living on phase two of the Consols development and have successfully secured funding from the Homes and Communities Agency and Cornwall Council to ensure the delivery of these much-needed affordable homes for local people.

Cornwall Council principal development officer Jody Jeffrey added: 鈥淎fter the success of phase 1 Cornwall Council鈥檚 affordable housing team were delighted when Coastline Housing approached us for a phase 2 at Consols. The planning application was approved without a single objection. St Ives has a very high level of housing need and these houses will provide sustainable and secure accommodation for 27 local households.鈥�
