Kier鈥檚 contract values are 拢115m and 拢43m respectively.

The two-year redevelopment programme at St Bernard鈥檚 Hospital in Ealing will create an 80-bed medium secure unit. This will sit alongside the existing regional secure unit (RSU) and Wells Unit surrounded by a secure perimeter with one single entrance to create the Three Bridges Medium Secure Campus.

Simultaneously, the trust will be completing the redevelopment of Broadmoor Hospital which will see the construction of 10 new wards in addition to six existing ones. When completed in 2017 the hospital will be able to accommodate 210 male patients.

WLMHT chairman Nigel McCorkell said:聽 鈥淭his is a significant achievement for everyone involved in mental health care. Given the difficulties and restrictions the current environments present at Broadmoor Hospital and the St Bernard鈥檚 MSU, our doctors, nurses and other staff have done an amazing job of providing high quality and safe care for our patients and service users.鈥

Managing director of Kier Construction鈥檚 major projects business, Colin Lamb, added: 鈥淜ier has a proven track record of delivering highly complex projects creating facilities for the health sector, and this latest milestone is a significant development that demonstrates how successful the collaboration between the partners has been."
