After seeing an advertisement for the Jewson Challenge in Countryside magazine, Claire Whitehorn decided to submit a 300-word entry about the ambitious self build project she was undertaking.
It was love at first sight for Claire Whitehorn and her family when they first laid eyes on the farm workers cottage (dated 1851) in the beautiful hamlet of Bank, just outside Lyndhurst in the New Forest. The fact that the property was in a state of disrepair did not deter the family and they set about rebuilding the property to its former glory.

鈥淲ith the help of our Jewson Challenge prize money we have almost completely gutted the house. Our plan is to have a 4 bedroom home keeping the character of the New Forest 鈥� reinstalling the sash windows and bringing the character and history of the property back to life.鈥�
