Unit sales were up from 51,600 machines in 2010 to 69,100 in 2011.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) was up 51% to 拢355m, from 拢235m last year.
Chairman Sir Anthony Bamford said: "This record financial performance has been delivered on the back of very strong growth in both traditional markets and the emerging economies."
In 2012 the company is taking on more than 100 apprentices and is planning its biggest ever product launch programme.
"We are investing heavily in manufacturing facilities in the UK and overseas,鈥 Sir Anthony said, 鈥渁nd later this year a new 350,000 sq ft factory will start producing backhoe loaders and excavators in Sao Paulo, Brazil."
