The first machine out of the gates of the depot near Manchester was a 14-metre telehandler, hired to a groundworks contractor.
The Grangemouth-based firm has invested more than 拢1m in buying the three-acre site, which is on Chaddock Lane in Astley, 10 miles northwest of the city centre.
鈥淭he site we have acquired in Manchester shows real commitment to the growth strategy of the business in establishing a presence south of the border,鈥� said Jarvie Plant鈥檚 newly appointed regional operations manager Dave Ingleby.
The depot is part of Jarvie鈥檚 strategy to increase its visibility among main contractors, civils contractors and house-builders across the UK.
During 2016, two purpose built depots in Dundee and Aberdeen were opened taking the total number of facilities in Scotland to eight. This number will increase to nine later this year when a new depot opens in Nairn on Scotland鈥檚 north coast.
