Astalidi holds a 60% stake in the JV for the contract, which is the third ‘mega-lot’ to be let on the Jonica National Road.
The project involves upgrading a 38km section from (NR-534) to Roseto Capo Spulico. The work is scheduled to take seven years and eight months, starting with 15 months for design and other activities needed prior to the start of the construction phase.
The main works in the project include construction of approximately 13.0 km of tunnels, approximately 5.0 km of viaducts and 20.0 km of embankments.
Astaldi is currently involved in the road’s first two major contracts, which are worth a total of more than €800m and are for a combined length of 30km. Part of the second contract has been opened to traffic, and more than 60% of the work on the first has been completed.
Impregilo is also working on two major packages of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway, with work due for completion within the next 18 months.
