ISG to build Cleveland fire stations

3 Jul 13 Cleveland Fire Authority has selected ISG to build four new fire stations.

The 拢22m contract includes a new headquarters for the Fire Authority in Hartlepool.

ISG is the sole appointee to the authority鈥檚 capital build framework.

The framework procurement route was selected by Cleveland Fire Authority as the most efficient and cost effective solution for its short to medium term capital works requirements, including the redevelopment of four existing fire stations in Middlesbrough, Headland, Thornaby and Grangetown. The first of the projects starts on site in September, when staff from the existing Middlesbrough station temporarily relocate to enable ISG to demolish the building and construct a replacement.

ISG managing director for construction Alan McCarthy-Wyper said: 鈥淭his key regional capital works framework is an important win for ISG and further strengthens our credentials within the blue light sector. Frameworks offer a highly efficient procurement route for public sector clients, bringing projects to site quicker and more cost effectively, whilst fostering greater delivery team integration and supporting innovation. We are delighted to be playing a major role in modernising the property assets and operational capability of the Cleveland Fire Authority for future generations.鈥

The appointment caps off a strong couple of months for ISG, whose regional construction business has signed up projects with a combined value of approximately 拢100m.

As previously reported, these include: a new as part of a 拢19m town centre regeneration project; the 拢16m redevelopment of ; and the 拢16.5m development in Swindon.
