ISG starts on £4m Brixton housing scheme

1 Sep 11 Contractor ISG has begun work on a £4m regeneration project with Kitewood to build a 42 unit housing scheme in Brixton, south London.

The development of mews and three-storey stacked maisonette properties is on the site of a former factory building on Effra Road. Designed by Inglis Badrashi Loddo Architects (IBLA), it has already been shortlisted for the Housing Design Awards 2011.

The new homes will be built using a thin joint masonry construction technique to improve thermal performance. The development, which is designed to achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes level three rating, incorporates roof mounted photovoltaic cells contributing a minimum 10% output of renewable energy.

The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2012.
