Working alongside Flintshire County Council and Alliance Leisure, the scheme represents the final element of a 拢multi-million investment to enhance facilities at the centre, with earlier phases including the completion of a new gym and external floodlit sports pitches.
The project sees ISG strip out and reconfigure the former Styles nightclub at the leisure centre and redevelop the current two storey arena area. This space will be converted into a large skate park featuring a range of ramps and jumps for BMX riders, skateboarders and in-line skaters. The centre is also set to become a major draw for climbing fanatics and those who want to try out the sport, with a five metre high rope course, a seven metre climbing tower and a low height bouldering wall with overhanging angles to test even the most experienced climber.
As part of the contract, ISG will also deliver a new day spa facility with a number of treatment rooms, relaxation area, and sauna. The contractor will also refurbish and carry out enhancements to the centre鈥檚 main entrance, reception and soft play area.
Jim Parker, ISG鈥檚 North West managing director, commented: "Consumer demand has led to a radical shift in public leisure provision and the emergence of private sector providers that bring investment as well as new skills and expertise into this arena. ISG is once again teaming up with Alliance Leisure to deliver a pioneering project in Wales that will bring extreme sports into a traditional leisure centre environment.鈥澛
