Interserve nears £3bn revenues

26 Feb 15 Interserve saw its group revenues grow 33% in 2014 to reach £2.9bn in 2014.

While operating profit grew 35% to reach 拢117.2m, reported pre-tax profit shrank 9% to 拢61.9m.

Excluding the impact of the acquisitions, including the March 2014 purchase of Initial Facilities, organic growth was 10%.

Interserve Construction contributed 拢1,178.6m to total group revenues and 拢26.2m operating profit.

The increasingly dominant Support Services side of the business generated 拢1,837.1m in revenues and an operating profit of 拢88.8m.

The operating margin of the UK construction business shrank from 1.8% in 2013 to 1.6% in 2014.

Chief executive Adrian Ringrose said: "2014 was a landmark year for the business in which we advanced our strategy and delivered 35% operating profit growth including strong organic growth despite continuing challenging conditions in a number of our markets. We made two strategic acquisitions (Initial Facilities and the Employment & Skills Group), each of which deepened our presence in core outsourcing markets.

Interserve chairman stands down

After more than nine years in the post, Interserve鈥檚 non-executive chairman Lord Blackwell is stepping down.

Lord Blackwell, chairman since January 2006, will step down no later than the 2016 annual general meeting in May, at which point Interserve will begin the search for a successor.

As Norman Blackwell, he was a member of the Number 10 Policy Unit advising prime minister Margaret Thatcher and headed John Major鈥檚 policy unit when he was PM.

His other current boardroom roles include non-executive director of Lloyds Banking Group.
