The contract to deliver the final 155km of the Pacific Highway upgrade between Woolgoolga and Ballina has attracted global interest said deputy prime minister Warren Truss. 鈥淪even consortia submitted an expression of interest in September and October, and we have carefully selected the three strongest applicants,鈥 he said.

The three selected consortia are:

  • Pacific Complete, comprising CH2M Hill, Laing O'Rourke and Parsons Brinkerhoff;
  • a joint venture of Jacobs Group and Fulton Hogan; and
  • PacWay Delivery Partner Joint Venture, comprising Advisian, Aurecon, Mace and Seymour Whyte.

鈥淭he three consortia are now in the final stage of choice, with the competitive tender starting today to further develop their proposals and commercial terms,鈥 said Truss. 鈥淲e are looking to announce the successful industry partner early in 2015, and also expect major work to start next year.鈥

New South Wales minister for roads and freight Duncan Gay said the Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade will have significant economic benefits for communities along the project length. 鈥淭his one upgrade alone is expected to directly provide around 2,500 jobs during construction, as well as a staggering 6,500 indirect jobs across the broader community,鈥 he said.

New South Wales Roads & 聽Maritime Services is continuing to prepare the Woolgoolga to Ballina section for construction, so that major work can start without delay after the tender process is completed.
