Idp announces promotion

16 Aug 11 Newcastle based architects, Idp, has announced a promotion within its urban design and master planning team.

Scott Ritchie, 32 from Gateshead, has been promoted to associate level.聽 Scott joined Idp eight years ago after gaining a BA Hons in Graphics and Illustration from Sunderland University. Since that time his career has changed direction from producing illustrations, to the more technical and arguably, more challenging area of urban design.

Having decided to change direction, Scott was supported by Idp through an Urban Design degree at Newcastle University, studying part time and qualifying in 2006.

He has now built up considerable experience in master planning, creating townscapes and working closely with Idp鈥檚 architects on a range of projects. His most notable project to date has been master planning on a mixed use scheme, in Newton Kyme, Tadcaster which gained planning at the beginning of this year.

Speaking about his promotion, Scott said:

鈥淚 am delighted to reach associate level.聽 It is rewarding to be acknowledged in this way by the partners, and I feel it reflects on my achievements to date.聽 Going forward, I am looking to make a more meaningful contribution to the direction in which the Practice is moving, whilst continuing to work on major schemes which have a positive impact on communities.鈥

Scott is currently working on behalf of New Tyne West Development Company, on the 拢265m regeneration of Scotswood in the West End of Newcastle.聽 The development will consist of 1,800 high quality, eco-friendly family homes and new neighbourhood and commercial facilities, as well as parks and public open spaces.
