Humac invests in telematics

2 May 17 Doncaster civil engineering contractor Humac has bought 175 telematics systems from Trackunit.

Trackunit鈥檚 Dual ID system combines telematics with access control technology, making sure machines are only operated by authorised users.

Trackunit sales manager Mark Gainford said: 鈥淗umac are using the full power of machine telematics; from linking operator competence to machine use, smarter servicing and better utilisation and not forgetting protection of their asset.鈥

Humac Civil Engineering managing director Adrian McDonald said the investment was proving beneficial: 鈥淥ur clients are major blue-chip house builders who are incredibly safety conscious and we wanted to align our commitment to safety with theirs and make our sites an inherently safer place to work.聽 Trackunit helped us design out the risk of unauthorised use by ensuring only those who are authorised, qualified and competent can use our plant.鈥

Mr McDonald continued: 鈥淓very machine is fitted with Trackunit Dual ID and we ensure that each operator鈥檚 qualifications match their ability to operate a machine via our Humac branded RFID card.

鈥淎nother H&S requirement that is being mandated is that ride in / on plant is fitted with a beacon to indicate that the seat-belt is fastened when being driven, but we have gone one step further and record actual seat-belt use using the Trackunit system.鈥
