HTC settles crane operator pay dispute

24 Nov 14 HTC Plant has settled the pay dispute with its tower crane operators with an improved pay deal.

Tower crane operators at the company voted last month to take strike action on three consecutive Fridays earlier this month. In the end, action was taken only on 7th November.

They agreed to suspend action before the 14th and reached a settlement on the eve of last Friday鈥檚 planned strike.

The crane operators, members of the UCatt union, agreed a new three-year pay offer worth more than 14% on basic rates. The new agreement also means that the bonus rate has been consolidated into the basic rate and a further raft of expenses and allowances, which workers had previously been granted, have been reinstated.

Ucatt general secretary Steve Murphy said: 鈥淭his is a victory for common sense. We welcome the agreement as it gives stability to both sides. Our members have certainty about pay and HTC have certainty over their future business costs.鈥

He added: 鈥淯catt is now looking forward to a fruitful relationship with HTC.鈥
