Holloway White Allom was established as Holloway Brothers in 1882 and went on to build the Old Bailey and the Bank of England, as well as numerous landmark bridges including Chelsea, Wandsworth and Hampton Court bridges across the Thames in London.
Holloway Brothers took over White Allom in 1960 and were then taken over by John Laing in 1964. Holloway White Allom Ltd operated as a Laing subsidiary until 2002 when it was bought out by the management team.
Until recently the company had 200 employees and annual turnover of £90m.
A spokesperson for KPMG said: "The business had ceased trading prior to our appointment with 175 redundancies made. We are now looking to sell the assets."
