HLG picked to build Dubai avenue

3 Nov 16 Middle East‐based contractor HLG has won a AED490 (£109m) contract for the construction of the Gate Avenue project in Dubai.

Hochtief subsidiary Cimic Group has a 45% stake in HLG, which will carry out the work for Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Gate Avenue at DIFC will be built on the existing DIFC truck and service tunnel and will extend a distance of approximately 880m. The total built-up area will be approximately 61,000m2 and will consist of a reinforced concrete structure and a mosque spanning three levels. The project will also provide connectivity to all building podiums within the district.聽Gate Avenue at DIFC will serve the financial centre鈥檚 community of professionals, residents and visitors. The development will include more than 200 dining, shopping, cultural and entertainment venues.

The HLG project includes glass cladding as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing works.

Work will begin shortly and the first phase is set for completion by the end of 2017.
