Highways Agency extends Mott’s support service contract

23 Sep 14 Consulting engineer Mott MacDonald has been reappointed as support service provider by the Highways Agency (HA) for the centralised maintenance depot terminal equipment (CMDTE) system.

Mott will manage the operation of the system that supports the emergency roadside telephones (ERTs) along the motorway and trunk road network in England.

CMDTE is the back office system that monitors and records faults with approximately 7500 ERTs. The project aims to maintain system hardware and software services to help ensure 97% of these are available for use should a road user鈥檚 vehicle breakdown.

Under the new three-year contract, Mott MacDonald will continue to supply a technical support helpdesk to liaise with all HA traffic management systems鈥 stakeholders, including engineers and contract managers. The IT security communities will also be monitored and the consultancy will carry out security patching and operating updates to the system when required.

Mott MacDonald project director Alison MacKenzie said: 鈥淲e already support the HA on various traffic management system projects and we鈥檝e managed the operation of CMDTE for over a year now. The main challenge in the next three years will be to ensure the system operation meets its desired target and faults are fixed as quickly as possible by managing the system remotely.鈥
