Hewden safety focus nets Balfour supply deal

20 Dec 11 Hire company Hewden has signed a one-year deal to supply Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions with all its operated plant requirements nationwide.

A key factor in the selection was Hewden鈥檚 ability to match the requirements of the contractor鈥檚 Zero Harm initiative, which aims to remove risk from all operations of the entire Balfour Beatty group.

BBUS procurement specialist Donna Stevens said: 鈥淗ewden was able to meet all of our key supplier measurements, including those around accreditation and national coverage. Most importantly, the company鈥檚 attention to safety is as stringent as our own; an important factor, and a key component of Balfour Beatty鈥檚 journey to Zero Harm across the business.鈥

All Hewden equipment, operators and service personnel working on site have to adhere to Balfour Beatty鈥檚 safety principles.

Hewden national account manager Chris Matthew said: 鈥淥ur team works closely with Balfour Beatty to ensure our credentials are in line with the company鈥檚 safety and sustainability initiatives. This new agreement is a testament to the continuing success of our relationship with the company.

鈥淟ike us, Balfour Beatty is committed to setting industry-leading standards for health and safety. Our quality accreditations and track record in safety performance enable us to meet the standards required.

鈥淲hat鈥檚 more, with our network of depots we鈥檙e able to support the company鈥檚 operations nationwide.鈥
