Haulage firm hammered for fatal ladder fall

25 Aug 15 A Norfolk-based haulage company has been fined £150,000 plus £88,000 costs after a driver died from injuries sustained from a fall from a ladder.

Keith Brookes, aged 59 at the time, fell from an unsecured ladder during an operation to unload items from a lorry at a golf club in Broxbourne, Herts, on 23rd November 2012. His injuries led to his early death last year.

His employer, David Watson Transport Ltd of Weeting, Norfolk, was prosecuted by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and was last week 聽fined a total of 拢150,000 and ordered to pay costs of 拢88,030.69 after being found guilty to three counts of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
