Guernsey development uses Innovaré doors and windows

25 Jun 12 Innovaré Systems is supplying windows and doors on the £14m redevelopment of Guernsey’s Grand Bouet Estate.

Its customer is local contractor JW Rihoy & Son, which is now working on the second stage of the redevelopment at Rue Jamouneau. This involves the construction of 80 properties for Guernsey Housing Association to be built over a 22-month period.

Innovar茅 - one of the UK鈥檚 leading providers of structural insulated panel systems (SIPs) -聽will be providing pre-fitted PVC-U windows and site fitting external doors as part of the construction work. It is also responsible for the performance of a preliminary air tightness test, with targets set at a minimum of 2m鲁/m虏/hr at 50 pascals or better.

Innovar茅 managing director Pete Blunt said: 鈥淪ustainability and energy efficiency are very important to Guernsey Housing Association and, as well as delivering these aims, the i-SIP panels can be quickly assembled on site and will help deliver high quality affordable housing, with lower bills for residents.鈥

The original Grand Bouet Estate was built in 1971 and comprised of 200 houses, flats and maisonettes that were built using non-traditional building methods. The homes were originally classed as temporary accommodation with a 25 year life span, but those that remained were beyond reasonable repair and have now been vacated and demolished.

During 2012 Guernsey Housing Association will have five sites under construction providing 260 new homes with over 拢50 million of building work underway for the local construction industry.
