The six men have been appointed 鈥榗rown representatives鈥 in the Cabinet Office鈥檚 efficiency and reform group.

Cabinet office minister Francis Maude said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e serious about equipping the Civil Service with the right skills to help the UK compete in the global race. That鈥檚 why we鈥檝e recruited experts from the business world, using their commercial insight to work alongside departments to get the most from relationships with our largest suppliers.

鈥淲e are spending less overall, but spending taxpayers鈥 money better. Our six new recruits have a big job ahead of them to build on the 拢800m saved by renegotiating expensive contracts in the first 10 months of this government 鈥 I鈥檓 confident they will put the full weight of their expertise behind the challenge.鈥

The other five are former Accenture managing partner James Hall, purchasing specialist Graham Jackson, former Imperial Tobacco IT chief David Jephson, former insurance executive Michael Wade and internet entrepreneur Rob Wilmot.
