Go-ahead for £36m regeneration in North Wales

6 Jun 14 The Welsh government has approved funding for four regeneration projects in North Wales, totalling £36m in value.

Local authorities of Anglesey (拢7.49m), Conwy (拢12.02m), Flintshire (拢6.02m) and Wrexham (拢10.59m) were all successful in bidding for funding through the Welsh government鈥檚 Vibrant and Viable Places regeneration scheme.

Carl Sargeant, the minister for housing and regeneration, said: 鈥淭here are projects targeted at renovating empty properties and bringing them back into use, attracting more people to live in town centres and improving the quality and energy efficiency of homes and businesses, for example.

鈥淏ut I鈥檝e also approved significant funding for a wide range of different projects, including further development at Colwyn Bay Waterfront, a Creative Industries & Arts Centre Development in Wrexham, improvements to the appearance of Deeside town centre and the regeneration of the Market Hall in Anglesey.鈥

He added: 鈥淚n North Colwyn Bay, for example, over 500 homes are set to benefit from targeted investment to improve the property exterior and energy efficiency performance. This project will see community benefits alongside neighbourhood management, including a landlord鈥檚 loan scheme and the creation of a social lettings project.鈥
