The new facility will be built on the University of Glasgow鈥檚 31-hectare Gilmorehill Campus in the West End. It will be the second part of what the university has described as an 鈥榠nspirational and world-leading masterplan鈥� for the West End campus.
John Cox, WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff senior technical director for building structures, said: 鈥淭his is a significant win for us as it strengthens our ongoing relationship with the University of Glasgow as well as raising our engineering skills profile in the education sector across Scotland and the UK as a whole.鈥�
The University of Glasgow relocated to Gilmorehill in 1870 from its original base close to the cathedral on the city鈥檚 high street. Notable campus structures include the George Gilbert Scott-designed main building and William Whitfield鈥檚 1968 university library.
