The new plant is a high pressure Triplex group pump, which is the first of its kind to be introduced to the UK, and a Soilmec SR45 drilling rig. The latter was purchased specifically to work on GDL鈥檚 Walney substation project in Lancaster.
The Scottish-based ground improvement specialist said that the additions increased the scope of projects that it could work on using its GDL Turbojet system.
Commercial director Kevin Mackenzie said: 鈥淥ur latest investment in plant significantly demonstrates both our investment, willingness and our capability to provide our services throughout the UK. We鈥檙e constantly looking at ways in which we can deliver innovative ground improvement techniques in the UK, and we鈥檙e leading the industry in the UK in our advances using GDL Turbojet DSM.
鈥淭his investment also comes at a time when we鈥檝e secured new premises that will see us take ownership of a 24,000 sq ft commercial business space adjacent to junction 4A off the M8. Our new facility will provide bigger and better offices, as well as space to maintain and store our fleet of plant machinery, as well as a central location that offers our team easy access to our clients鈥 ground improvement projects across Scotland, as well as south of the border.鈥
