The contract, with the ExtraCare Charitable Trust (ECCT), is one of four new bits of business for Galliford Try鈥檚 Partnerships in the extra care and affordable housing sectors, worth a combined 拢72m.
The new Longbridge development will create 260 apartments in blocks of up to five storeys and have a village centre with such facilities as a village hall, bar, restaurant, gym, IT suite, hair and beauty salon and shop. It has been designed by Birmingham-based Nicol Thomas Architect and forms part of St Modwen鈥檚 拢1bn regeneration of the old car plant. This will be the sixth development of this kind that Galliford Try has built for the ECCT.
Secondly, the company has reached financial close on an 拢18m scheme to build a 135-bed 'Village 135' extra care facility for Wythenshawe Community Housing Group. This project consists of 66 apartments across two sites, connected by a glass-enclosed pedestrian walkway.
In addition, One Housing Group has handed Galliford Try two contracts that will deliver the developments at Protheroe House and Pretoria Road in North London. The 拢9.2m Protheroe House scheme will create a 50-bed extra care facility in Haringey. The 拢9m Pretoria Road project involves the construction of 44 one-bed and eight two-bed properties in Hackney.
Galliford Try executive chairman Greg Fitzgerald said: "Galliford Try's track record in extra care developments is second to none and we are delighted that the ExtraCare Charitable Trust, Wythenshawe Community Housing Group and One Housing Group have placed their trust in us to deliver the high quality facilities their customers deserve."
