Fixed price contracts sink Hull contractor

16 Jan 17 A buyer is being sought to rescue Hall Construction Group Ltd from administration.

Julian Pitts and Nick Reed of Begbies Traynor in Leeds were appointed as joint administrators of the company on 13th January. The administrators said that they are considering all options to enable the business to continue to trade and looking for a buyer.聽

Hall Construction Group Ltd is a family business based in Hull that dates back to 1887 and has expertise in the construction and refurbishment of offices, commercial buildings, schools and warehouses.

With a turnover of 拢30m, it employs 65 staff as well as providing work for many sub-contractors throughout Yorkshire

Joint administrator Julian Pitts said: 鈥淚t is extremely sad to see such a long-established Yorkshire based business in difficulties. The company recently suffered from undertaking two聽 significant聽 out-of-town fixed聽 price design and build contracts, one of聽 which subsequently resulted in a 拢2.9m loss.

鈥淗owever, with its strong reputation in commercial construction, together with a number of blue chip and public sector clients within Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, we are hopeful that Hall Construction represents an attractive proposition for the right buyer.聽 We are currently marketing the business and our aim is to find a buyer for the business as a whole, or for parts of the business, in order to achieve the best return possible for creditors.鈥

Batty Joinery continues to trade profitably and is not a part of the group.
