He takes over on 1st February 2016 from Neil Dickinson, who is retiring after 36 years with the company, and will report to chief executive Scott Thomson.
Kevin Parkes joined Finning as a graduate trainee in 1996. After Finning acquired hire group Hewden, it put Mr Parkes in charge. When Finning sold Hewden in 2010, he stayed with the hire firm as chief executive.
Mr Parkes returned to Finning in February 2015 as director of equipment solutions.
Scott Thomson said he had 鈥減roven leadership ability鈥�.
