The appointment is seen as putting the team in an advantageous position to bid for design and construction work, if the US$10bn (拢6.5bn) project goes ahead.
TCP, the private company that is developing the project, will be responsible for the design, finance, construction, operation and maintenance. Impementation of the scheme is contingent upon environmental and compulsory-purchase permits being secured, as well as financial closure being reached.
The Dallas Houston Constructors (DHC) consortium headed by Ferrovial Agroman will provide TCP with work worth US$130m (拢84m). The consortium also includes Archer Western Construction. A subsidiary of US construction group Walsh.
