The Sutherland to Cronulla 鈥榓ctive transport鈥 link is part of Sydney鈥檚 Cycling Future, the state government鈥檚 long-term plan for cycling infrastructure in the area.
The project would connect various community destinations, as well as linking with multiple railway stations, neighbourhood centres and employment hubs.
Matthew Stephens, Mott MacDonald鈥檚 project director, said: 鈥淭his project will utilise a new standard developed by Transport for New South Wales鈥 Asset Standards Authority that would allow parts of the link to be located within the rail corridor, though separated from railway infrastructure to ensure safety. It could also act as a model for the development of other active transport links to utilise available space within rail corridors.鈥
Mott MacDonald鈥檚 commission is due to be completed by the end of 2015.
