Construction output in Great Britain rose by 1.8% in December 2016, compared with November 2016, largely due to an increase in new work.聽 Year-on-year, compared with December 2015, construction output increased by a more modest 0.6%.
The year-on-year growth was mainly due to new house-building work, while the month-on-month rise was helped by a 5.2% expansion in private commercial work.
By contrast, infrastructure output declined in December for an 11th consecutive month.
A broader view shows construction output growing by 0.2% in the final quarter of the year, compared to the third quarter.
