Innogy Renewables UK has awarded Dawnus the contract for the initial works, including constructing the site entrance, access tracks and widening existing roads where needed.聽 Clydach-based Dawnus expects to start these enabling works in early February 2017. Mynydd y Gwair wind farm site, nine miles north of Swansea, will employ around 20 people on site during this eight to nine month period.
Once operational, the 16 turbine project will have an installed capacity of up to 33.6MW.
Regional director Matthew Morgan said: 鈥淒awnus is delighted to have secured the first contract for the Mynydd y Gwair wind farm scheme and is looking forward to working closely with Innogy and other stakeholders to get the project off to a positive start through construction of the enabling works.鈥
Energy firm Innogy was formed from the restructuring of Germany鈥檚 RWE Group last year.
