The joint administrators from Deloitte have reached agreement with two of the three main customers of Daniel Contractors to continue to trade the business with the intention that the contracts and associated employees will transfer to an alternative service provider. The business and employees of the third main customer have been transferred.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has separately announced that it yesterday transferred maintenance work that was being undertaken by Daniel Contractors to Enterprise Utility Services, saving 400 jobs.
Joint administrators Bill Dawson and Dan Butters, partners in Deloitte鈥檚 restructuring team, are pursuing interest in other areas of the business.
However, the financial situation of the group has meant that 81 redundancies have been made within Daniel Contractors relating to the company鈥檚 smaller contracts and some head office functions, and a further 43 redundancies from Land & Marine.
The possibility of selling the Land & Marine Project Engineering business is being explored, they said.
Mr Dawson said: 鈥淲e have managed to safeguard most of the jobs and are looking to pursue further deals which could help to save more jobs. However, we regret that the financial situation of the group has meant that a number of redundancies have had to be made.鈥
Before the group went into administration yesterday, the group employed 1,449 people split as follows:
