Croydon grants EM contract extension

22 Aug 14 EM Highway Services has secured a two-year extension to its London Borough of Croydon (LBC) contract.

EM has been looking after Croydon鈥檚 roads since October 2011. The company was previously a joint venture of Enterprise and Mouchel but is now wholly owned by Mouchel.

The company said that with the contract extension it would now work with its client and supply chain to develop an action plan for providing the London Living Wage, which is 拢8.80 an hour, compared to the national minimum wage (for over 21s) of 拢6.31.

Local authority service director Mitesh Solanki said: 鈥淏eing awarded this extension is a testament to the good work EM has carried out in Croydon. We have built a strong relationship with the client and local community and are very pleased to be able to continue on this path.

鈥淗owever this doesn鈥檛 mean we can stand still; we have a lot of work to do to continue delivering an excellent service to the residents of Croydon. That includes developing action plans to provide the London Living Wage and apprenticeships to local people as well as working more closely with small and medium enterprises.鈥
