When Costain reports its 20913 preliminary results in March there are unlikely to be any surprises, with trading continuing in line with the board鈥檚 expectations.聽 The company finished the year with a positive net cash position.
As a result of new contract wins and extensions, including the AMP6 programme for Thames Water, the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project, and a number of additional contracts for Crossrail, Costain ended 2013 with a 拢3.0bn order book, up from 拢2.4bn at the start of the year.
More than 拢750m of this work is for 2014.
The company also claims a strong preferred bidder position on contracts worth more than 拢400m and the level of tendering activity in target markets remains high.
Chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: 鈥淲e are delighted to finish the year with a very strong order book. Our continued success is the direct result of our focus on delivering innovative engineering solutions for blue chip customers who are investing in meeting national needs.鈥
