Contract awarded for 18km Sao Paulo monorail

8 Jun 11 The Consortium Monotrilho Integracao has won the contract for an 18km monorail project in São Paulo, Brazil.

The聽 contract award聽 is聽 valued聽 at聽 R$1.4bn聽 (拢539m) and is expected to be completed in 42 months.

The consortium is made up of Malaysia鈥檚 Scomi Engineering and Brazil鈥檚 Andrade Gutierrez and CR Almeida and its contract covers the design work,聽 manufacture,聽 supply聽 and聽 implementation of聽 the聽 monorail system for S茫o Paulo鈥檚 monorail Line 17. The line will have 18 stations.

The聽 international聽 tender聽 and聽 qualification聽 process聽 was聽 carried聽 out聽 by聽 the聽 S茫o聽 Paulo聽 Metro. Work on the project is expected to start next month July 2011.
