Consultants and suppliers return to leadership council

9 Sep 15 The government has relented in the face of construction industry lobbying and found more space around the table of its Construction Leadership Council.

There are now seats for representatives of the industry鈥檚 professions and of building products suppliers.

The government announced the restructuring of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) in July, reducing it from 30 members to a much more manageable 12, in a bid to sweep away the many vested interests and lobbyists in preference for genuine industry leaders. However, the first industry members named were generally all either bosses of foreign-owned contractors or foreign nationals. []

There followed an outpouring of criticism from the Construction Industry Council, the Association for Consultancy & Engineering and the Construction Products Association (CPA) who all felt suddenly very much out of the loop. []
