The purpose was to take part in the Meet the Buyer events, organised and hosted by the organisation Constructionline in each of these towns. These events provided a chance for construction companies and trade contractors to meet prospective clients and find out more about the key players in their respective areas. For the Scheme, it was an opportunity to strengthen its own profile to these same clients. It also provided the perfect occasion to promote its Company Registration initiative which from the 1 January 2012, is expanding to allow trade contractors to benefit from registering with the Scheme.
Scheme Monitors were manning the stands and speaking to the attendee鈥檚 about the benefits of registration, especially if they were suitable to qualify for Company Registration. Discussions were held with a range of public and private clients, and many suppliers chose the occasions to sign up to the Scheme immediately. In Belfast, Monitor Brian Maguire met with Michael Stanley, Capital Programme Manager for Belfast City Council, who stated that he would like to get all city council contractors to participate in the Scheme.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme will be keeping an eye on the calendar for future Constructionline events next year.
