Conamar will construct a new pattern-viewing building and archive centre as well as completing a full refurbishment of the existing pottery building that was used to make items for John Lewis stores during the Second World War. An exhibition space is also set to house a permanent pottery collection where it is hoped that craft workshops will be run.
The completed centre will help celebrate two important dates coming up in 2014 鈥 the 100th anniversary of the formation of the John Lewis Partnership, and the 150th anniversary of the first John Lewis shop in Oxford Street, London.
While the archive would primarily be for partners and Odney club members it would be made available to the public for events like Cookham Festival.
Neil Dower, Managing Director of Conamar, said:
鈥淲e are pleased to help deliver this project for John Lewis Partnership, which is a longstanding client of ours, to provide an exceptional heritage centre for partners, Odney club members and the public.鈥
Work on the site is expected to last until February 2013.
